Proceedings of the Invasive Species Workshop: The Role of Fire in the Control and Spread of Invasive Species. Held at Fire Conference The First National Congress on Fire Ecology, Prevention, and Management.

$ Role of fire in the control and spread of invasive species Invasive Species Workshop proceedings: Responsibility: edited by Krista E.M. Galley and Tyrone P. Wilson ; supported by the Joint Fire Science Program ; technical coordinators, Matthew L.

Brooks and Stanley G. Coloff. Description. The purpose of the Fire and Invasive Species workshop was to assess the state of knowledge of the interactions of fire and invasive plants, including fire management practices related to control and susceptibility, influence of invasive species on fire regimes, influence of fire on invasive species, and influence of land use and land management practices on invasive species.

The workshop is a forum for discussing invasive species management activities within the state, offers expert presentations about emerging invasive species science and management issues, and training for new and experienced invasive species managers alike.

This collection of 52 papers and 21 abstracts focuses on sharing available knowledge to combat the threat of invasive alien species. Turning the tide of biological invasion by eradicating invasive species can yield substantial benefits for biodiversity conservation.

As more eradications are attempted worldwide, it is increasingly important that lessons are learned from each and every one Proceedings of the Invasive Species Workshop book /5(2). challenges besetting the participating countries as regards controlling and managing invasive alien plant species.

Highlights of group workshop discussions on the current general and specific gaps in the risk analysis process including proposed solutions to address these gaps are also presented in this book. More importantly, it also.
